Castle Linz, Linz


Built in 1365 as an electoral stronghold and fortress to raise duties from Rhine shipping. Today it houses a dungeon with armoury, torture chamber, a "Roman glassworks" with glass-blowing demonstrations and a large gallery with a year-round Christmas exhibition, the "Rhine Shipping and Rhine Romanticism" exhibition, as well as medieval gastronomy with a large banqueting hall, a smaller banqueting room in the tower and castle courtyard with wishing well.

Arenfels Palace, Bad Hönningen


Arenfels Palace, a neo-gothic palace, was built as a castle from 1258 to 1259. It is also known as the "year palace" because it has 12 towers, 52 doors, and 365 windows.

Rheineck Castle, Bad Breisig


This castle, dating back to the 11th century, was destroyed on several occasions and rebuilt in the 19th century by the famous builder Von Lassaulx. Since 2000 the castle has become a “Byte Castle”, so to speak, and houses a research laboratory and workshops for the future electronic-digital world. Rheineck is in private hands and cannot be visited.

 

Castle Brohleck, Brohl/Rhein


The villa-like castle is located above Brohl-Lützing on the Rhine is dating back to 1891. The grounds of the castle are open to the public and the renovated large hall can be hired for private functions.
