Assmannshausen
Assmannshausen is town a in its own right but also a “district” of Rüdesheim. If you approach from the Rhine front, you will see the many hotels with their pretty garden cafés. Of all these historical hotels that lie in a row like peals on a necklace, the “Krone” is the flagship. Many visitors are attracted in summer, no matter what the weather is like, to the town with the abundant floral decorations. If you go further into the town, you will find not only many half-timbered houses but also various souvenir shops, restaurants and taverns. The late gothic church steeple towers above the town which, seen from the steep vineyard terraces, makes a lovely picture. And the colourful vine foliage enhances this picture. If you are like to walk through the vineyards, you will come to the “Höllenberg”. This vineyard is as well-known as Assmannhausens name for being the red wine town on the Rhine. A glass of burgundy from this vineyard is a bit of Heaven on earth.
