Koblenz is best approached from the water. And to do that you have two possibilities. Father Rhine and his daughter Moselle meet here and make up the confluence that is probably the most famous corner in Germany – the “German Corner”. The monumental construction stretches out into the waters like the bow of a ship. Situated across the Rhine on the opposite side is the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. Some even call it the Rhenish Gibralter and the comparison good, as you will notice when you take a look at the rock with the mighty fortification. Some of the more beautiful attractions of the town are the Florins Market with the Gothic warehouse/dancehall, the old court of lay assessor and the Florins Church. Then passing the old castle, the former place of residence of the Archbishop of Trier in Koblenz, you have a view of the stony Baldiun Bridge, which has spanned the Moselle for more than 700 years. However, the heart of Koblenz lies in the old town centre with its street cafés, ice-cream parlours, restaurants and taverns inviting you to linger and spend some time in the afternoon sun or to turn the night into day. Koblenz is the capital city of the region. It offers good shopping, culture and sport and leisure activities. The town is one of the top destinations in the domain of the Rhineland Palatinate Tourist Board.
