Currywurstfestival in Neuwied

A weekend of food and drink around the quintessentially German fast food.

Immortalized in a song by the German singer Herbert Grönemeyer, the Currywurst, a humble pork sausage in curry sauce, is not just fast food but a cult and Neuwied celebrates it with three days of food and drink. The first festival in 2007 was an instant hit. Now every year up to 40 stalls with seemingly endless variations of pork, beef, lamb and even wild boar – always with a matching curry sauce variety – serve up their culinary creations. New varieties are created for every festival and eagerly awaited by customers. Vegetarian options also available!
