Saint Giles (or Aegidius) is a triple-nave Romanesque church in Mittelheim.

Saint Giles (or Aegidius) is a triple-nave Romanesque church in Mittelheim. Dedicated to Saint Giles, the basilica dates back to the early 12th century, but was partly built on the foundations of a 10th-century chapel. St Giles is therefore the oldest Romanesque church in Rheingau. After 1263, this former monastery church served as a parish church and has survived the centuries without any major structural changes. In the 20th century, it was restored to its original style in three phases. The late-Gothic pulpit (1511) by Erhard Falckener or one of his pupils, a Gothic font made of grey sandstone and a number of statues of saints are all worth a look.
