Three chimneys
Three high chimneys characterize the landscape on the Rheinhöhe above Braubach. The impressive chimneys are located on Mount Pankert and were built there between 1897 and 1910. There is also a 600 meter long, above-ground flue gas duct that leads from the former lead and silver smelting works in the valley to the chimneys. Braubach owes its economic rise to the mining of lead and silver. The smelter was opened in 1769, but since 1977/78 only battery lead scrap from „Ecobat Resources Braubach GmbH" has been processed. In addition, it is operated as a secondary lead smelter with a compounding plant.
The location of the chimneys on the Pankert is not accessible to visitors, but the site can be viewed from the outside. https://www.burgenblogger.de/wenn-die-weinbergheizung-qualmt/
