Evangelische Kirche Nochern
Oberdorfstraße 21, 56357 Nochern
The Lutheran church of Nochern was built in 1892/93, replacing a 500-year-old building. The new church was built in neo-Gothic style according to the designs of the well-known architect Ludwig Hofmann from Herborn. In the last days of the war, the Nochern church was considerably damaged by artillery fire, and the colored window in the choir room was totally destroyed. In 1961, three new windows were installed in the choir room, designed by the painter Gustel Stein from Mainz. They show Jesus' baptism by John the Baptist, Jesus' Last Supper with his disciples, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. However, during the interior renovation, the original character of the church was changed. It was not until 2004 that the original appearance was restored.
