Förster-Billhardt-Säule
Oberstraße10, 55422 Bacharach
The sandstone column in honor of the forester Billhardt is located near the Swiss House in the Bingen Forest.
It is designed in the neo-Gothic style. Its inscription says that Frederick Prince of Prussia bought the Faitzberg farm in 1830 and the forester Billhardt from Bingen reforested 50 acres with oaks. In his honor, the prince had the sandstone column erected in the forest. The Prussian prince had previously had the nearby Rheinstein Castle rebuilt as a summer residence and the Schweizerhaus built as a guest house on the grounds of the Faitzberger Hof.
