Since 1750, the Herrnhuters have been settled in Neuwied, and their late Baroque residential quarter is still very well preserved.

Architecturally significant attraction: Herrnhuter Quarter The Herrnhuter Brothers' Congregation, to which Abraham and David Roentgen also belonged, settled in Neuwied in the mid-18th century. The quarter they inhabited at that time consisted of simple houses built in a uniform architectural style and has been preserved to this day. A testimony to Herrnhuter architecture is also the Brothers' Church with its plain prayer hall, which harmoniously fits into the row of houses. The building that now houses the vocational school for the food trade is also a testament to this. It was built in 1870 for the Herrnhuter Boys' Institution, which had already been accommodating students from home and abroad in its boarding school since 1756. In 1887, the first international football match on German soil took place here. Quote from the Neuwieder Zeitung of the time: "In carnival costumes, they fought over an inflatable ball." Through solid enterprises in commerce and trade, the Herrnhuter Brothers' Congregation brought widespread recognition to the city of Neuwied. Even to this day, it represents a significant and well-respected part of the Neuwied public life.
