Holzmarktturm (Steeger Tor)
Blücherstraße, 55422 Bacharach
The wooden tower, also known as "Steeger Tor," is located on Blücherstraße heading towards Bacharach-Steeg.
The tower from the second half of the 14th century stands at the western corner of the city fortifications and is the only tower to have retained its original roofing as well as the old half-timbered construction. The wooden tower served at that time to control the road from Bacharach through Steeg to the Hunsrück. The adjoining section of the city wall from the wooden tower to the Liebesturm is preserved in full height, and here you can find parts of the covered walkway.
