Jüdischer Friedhof
Kurt-Schumacher-Str., 56567 Neuwied-Niederbieber
With 11,037.75 square meters, the Jewish cemetery in Niederbieber is one of the largest and oldest in Rhineland-Palatinate.
During the Night of Broken Glass on November 9/10, 1938, the cemetery was heavily desecrated.
Supported by the city of Neuwied and AB measures from the Employment Office, numerous traces of devastation and weathering were removed. Fallen gravestones were uprighted, renovated, and partially re-anchored. The regular maintenance of the cemetery was taken over by the city's garden office. In 1985, the Jewish cemetery was placed under monument protection as an invaluable cultural asset. The administration is in the hands of the Jewish Community of Koblenz (German-Israeli Friendship Circle Neuwied e.V.)
