a monument at the place of the "Nohberschbank"
A monument was erected in 1983 at the "Nohberschbank" square to honor the Pentecost riders and their over 450-year history.
The fountain was created by the artist and sculptor Georg Ahrens from Trimbs in the Eifel region. It consists of a multi-part basalt column on which 2 figures of the Pentecost riders made of bronze casting can be seen. 4 water-spouting sheep heads symbolize the agreement between the shepherds and the farmers. Thus, the drive of the sheep over the Heddesdorfer and Niederbieberer meadows to the Rhine and the Wied was permitted against payment to the riders' agricultural laborers upon arrival at the Rommersdorf Monastery and the young men at the Langendorf Monastery courtyard. This right ceased as Neuwied grew larger and the courtyard disappeared. A similarly old agreement exists with the Reuler Hof in Engers. This agreement still holds to this day.
