Wingertsbergstraße, 56566 Neuwied-Oberbieber

From Niederbieber, the Roman-Germanic Limes once ran further over the ridge of the Wingertsberg down into the Aubachtal valley and then up the Alteck and through the Gladbach-Heimbach-Weiser forest down to the Sayn, where it left the present-day Neuwied city area. There were about 35 Limes towers in the Neuwied urban area, one of them on the top of the Wingertsberg. Not far from its foundation walls, which have been preserved in the ground and are now built over, a model of this tower was erected in 1969/71 as a historical monument.
