Ruin of Hindenburg bridge
65385 Rüdesheim
Built between 1913 and 1915, the Hindenburg Bridge, with a length of approximately 1,000 meters, was the second-longest bridge over the Rhine.
It consisted of nine concrete vaults and two steel lattice arches and was blown up by Wehrmacht soldiers in March 1945. Since 2002, the remains of the Hindenburg Bridge, which was not rebuilt after the war, have formed the easternmost point of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Upper Middle Rhine Valley.
