Hans Schmidt: *1923 in Leipzig, 1947-51 studied at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchgestaltung Leipzig. 1951-63 typographer at the Eggelbrecht-Presse in Mainz, alongside teaching assignments for typography and type at the Landeskunstschule Mainz.
1963-83 initially lecturer, then professor for book design, typography, and type at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach. Since 1984 self-employed in Badenhard (Hunsrück).
