St. Mary's Church

Ludwig-Glaser-Strasse, 65385 Rüdesheim am Rhein

On the edge of the large complex of St. Vicenz's Monastery lies St. Mary's Church as part of the old monastery complex, which was consecrated in 1219.

The Rhine Valley between Koblenz and Rüdesheim is well worth a visit, as it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

And if you have already been there and missed the entrance on the way from Rüdesheim to the Niederwalddenkmal, then you will end up in Aulhausen, situated in a small valley and in the middle of it you will find the old Cistercian monastery Marienhausen. This monastery with the Marien church has become a unique cultural and spiritual attraction. At the edge of the large complex of the St. Vicenzstift lies the Marienkirche as part of the old monastery complex, which was consecrated in 1219. Since its opening in January 2016, this church has been the first and only church in the world to be decorated by artists with disabilities. Unusual artwork by unusual people now surrounds worship, prayer and song. Whoever enters the ancient church is drawn into the possibly different world view of these people. They have translated the ancient Christian message with extraordinary works of art into their and our world and made it visible. If you are willing to get involved, you will see your world with new and different eyes...

Curious? You are cordially invited to visit us!
