Viewpoint Dicktberg/Donkey Steps
Koblenzer Straße 39, 53498 Bad Breisig
Viewpoint in Brohl-Lützing.
The lookout point at Dicktberg above the Eselstreppe in the area of Hohen Buche offers a wide view over the lower Middle Rhine Valley. From the summit, an impressive panorama opens up downstream along the Rhine as far as the Siebengebirge, as well as the distinctive rock face of Hammerstein on the opposite bank of the Rhine.
In the immediate vicinity, traces of earlier use testify to the special history of the area. This includes the remains of a Celtic refuge and an ancient Roman quarry with still visible signs of work. Information panels explain the use of lava rock in Roman times.
The lookout point thus combines impressive long-distance views with a culturally rich landscape shaped by history.
