On the outskirts of the Neuwied district of Feldkirchen lies, nestled in a wooded area, the idyllic site. The attractive local recreation area has been designed as a water park as part of a repurposing and upgrading initiative.
The idea, initiated by the Neuwied municipal utilities in collaboration with the renowned environmental artist Dieter Magnus, offers the Neuwied population and the broader region a unique place for leisure and local recreation.
Under the motto "Experience Water and Nature," both children and adults of all ages are given the opportunity to gather diverse experiences in dealing with water. The multifunctional water landscapes, which are at the center of the overall concept, can be actively explored playfully at any time.
For the conceptual implementation of the project, the well-known environmental artist and urban renewal specialist Dieter Magnus was specifically recruited. Famous for his commitment to urban renewal and development, he has already created sustainable and unique play and recreational landscapes in recent years (Garnethill Park in Glasgow or Living in the residential environment in Mainz-Gonsenheim).
The recovery of natural references in the urban context was the top priority. The sensory perception and awareness of natural and aesthetic processes are further important key elements of his work. The intention of creating an inviting and attractive place to stay, which brings people into contact with each other while simultaneously fostering a new awareness of nature, provides space for a tolerant and vibrant coexistence - exactly the two characteristics that Neuwied and its region stand for.
The model project includes a variety of opportunities that represent a significant enrichment for the Neuwied region. The combination of local recreation, gastronomy, leisure, and cultural offerings presents a great chance for young and old to actively experience nature, combined with an inspiring and appealing aesthetics.
