From 08.02.2026 until the 14.06.2026
Ausstellung "Günther Uecker"
Hans-Arp-Allee 1, 53424 Remagen-Rolandseck
The exhibition at the Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck is the first after the death of the artist Günther Uecker (*1930, Wendorf, †2025, Düsseldorf) and the last in which he actively participated. It honors the internationally renowned artist, who made art history with his iconic nail pictures and reliefs and revolutionized post-war art as a prominent figure of the artist group ZERO.
Uecker was closely connected to the artist train station Rolandseck: the nail relief Bed for Waking Up (1965) is still part of the museum collection today. The performative film The Stairs (1964) shows Uecker conquering the station square and building nail by nail. A total of 45 works from seven decades will be displayed – from early nail objects to kinetic installations and late series that reflect Uecker's spiritual attitude and his humanistic worldview. The focus is on works dedicated to the vulnerability of the world – an expression of a body of work that reflects peace, empathy, and human responsibility.
