Fellows of the ARSB 2024 on aesthetics and ambivalences of the immersive

You can immerse yourself in many ways: in spaces of your own imagination, in virtual worlds or in real parallel societies. You can lose yourself and find yourself in sounds, in literature, in series and also in other people. Immersion is an experience that has always been familiar to us - and can be triggered by stimuli, narcotics, but also actions, dances and rituals. Artistic positions developed over the past year by international artists in the artist residency at Schloss Balmoral in Bad Ems and by guests deal with the theme of immersion: diving in, sinking in, passing over. More than a classic exhibition, our festival weaves images, sounds and shared experiences into a ten-day round dance that takes place at the centre of Sayner Hütte and radiates out into the region.
