We offer the autumn holiday program for children of primary school age (6-10 years) from October 13 - 16, 2025.

MON | 13.10. | 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM | Monument Area | Forming and Casting

Today we will learn how the hut workers in the Sayner Hütte used to mold models in sand and cast the resulting cavities with liquid metal. We will cast hut tokens and small figures, which we will also finish after casting, a process called "cleaning". All participants may take home the finished cast piece as a reward.

TUE | 14.10. | 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM | Empore Krupp'sche Halle | Colorful Casts

In our hut workshop, we will create colorful sugar casts using selected collection pieces such as small sculptures, gears, or a fawn model. The colorful sugar casts will provide a delightful contrast in color and transparency to the materiality of the mostly black-painted iron objects. Everyone will cast their very own unique and sweet souvenir from their museum visit, which can be taken home. In between, we will also go on a discovery tour through the Sayner Hütte and the art casting gallery, where we are sure to find some inspirations for our sugar casts.

WED | 15.10. | 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM | Cultural Park Sayn | Exploring Sayn with Hut Boy Toni

Can you imagine what a workday at the Sayner Hütte looked like more than 100 years ago? Together, we will follow the traces of 12-year-old Toni, who lived with his family in Alt-Sayn and worked at the Sayner Hütte in the limestone period. Luckily, Toni left us his backpack, filled with many important things and a letter. With this, we will embark on a discovery tour from the hut to Hein’s Mill, learning a lot about the place Sayn and the people who lived there.

THU | 16.10. | 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM | Monument Area | Wire Workshop and Plaster Masks

In the past, the hut workers needed models for the cast pieces – today we will create our own model. In the first part of the day’s program, we will cast our own faces and make plaster masks.
Whether it’s glittering jewelry, colorful autumn decorations, or creepy wire ghosts - while you wait for the masks to set, you can unleash your creativity in our jewelry workshop and create amazing wire bending works.




The meeting point for all workshops is the visitor center of the Sayner Hütte.
