King Edward VI Highschool for Girls
Blücherstraße 1, 55422 Bacharach
“King Edward VI High School" King Edward VI High School is one of the most academically successful private girls' schools in the country, distinguished by excellent facilities, outstanding teaching, excellent examination results, and an unparalleled extracurricular program. The music department, run jointly with King Edward's School for Boys, hosts nearly 40 concerts each year, ranging from solo and chamber concerts to orchestral and choral programs of the highest standards. Weekly, three orchestras, two jazz bands, two wind ensembles, five choirs, and many other smaller ensembles rehearse at the schools. The schools house a state-of-the-art performing arts center, which includes a 400-seat concert hall, theater and dance studios, a recording studio, and a number of practice rooms.
KEHS Chamber Choir The chamber choir consists of some of the most talented singers from KEHS. The choir sings a wide-ranging repertoire, from sacred masses to secular songs, and performs regularly at school concerts and charitable events.
The KEHS Chamber Orchestra is an ensemble made up of about 25 of the school's most advanced string players. Many of the musicians also perform in the school's symphony orchestra, and some regularly perform in prestigious ensembles, including the CBSO Youth Orchestra, the Junior Birmingham Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra, the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain, and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Sometimes they are supported by advanced wind players, as they are on this tour.
