The duo, although the smallest possible band, offers all forms of interaction in jazz. This makes this ensemble very exciting while simultaneously placing high demands on the musicians. A course at the state music academy provides input in the areas of arrangement, sound, voicings, and improvisation. Standards and bossa novas will be developed to be presented at the jazz evening. Viviane de Farias was born in Ipanema and grew up in Rio de Janeiro and Los Angeles. Her solid classical background, her "warm and flattering voice" with an "extremely wide range and deep lyrical emotionality," her "captivating sophistication," and "flawless singing technique" earned her a reputation abroad as "one of the best Brazilian singers." Christian Eckert is an experienced duo player. He went to Holland in the early 90s to study jazz guitar before moving to New York to learn from teachers such as Jim Hall, Hal Galper, and John Abercrombie. He played with musicians such as Ray Bryant, Jasper Van't Hof, John Stowell, and George Colligan.
