On the long weekend of Corpus Christi, saxophones dominate the scene at the State Music Academy: The saxophone quartet Mainz 04 is a guest. Approximately 30 saxophonists are traveling to perform with "Mainz 04" and showcase the instrument in its various facets. As part of the "Saxophone Intensive" course, we warmly invite you to the concert with free admission.

Mainz 04, the "Modern Sax Quartet," consists of Johannes Lind (soprano saxophone), Kerstin Haberecht (alto saxophone), Alexander Jung (tenor saxophone), and Steph Winzen (baritone saxophone), and they came together in 2004 during their studies at the Mainz University of Music. Mainz 04 stands for fantastic joy of playing, uncompromising dynamics, and perfect harmony flow. Any name parallels to other associations are purely coincidental and unintentional. Mainz 04 always remains top-notch. In 2023, their debut album titled "Faces" was released and is now available everywhere. At the concert in the Evangelical Church, Mainz 04 will present their brand-new original compositions, ballads, and well-known jazz classics. More at www.mainz04.com. At the closing concert on Sunday afternoon, saxophonists will perform the pieces worked on during the course in various ensembles, and even an entire saxophone orchestra comprising all about 30 participants can be admired.
