For three days, jazz enthusiasts come together for intensive work with the experienced instructors Hansjörg Fink and Gero Körner at the State Music Academy. The results will be presented to the public at the concluding jazz evening.

The course at the academy is aimed at all musicians with experience in jazz improvisation. The goals are to learn essential playing techniques required for playing in a duo or small ensemble without a rhythm group, the adaptation of music titles for duo playing, the development of one's own "musical language," and the design and presentation of a concert program. The focus is on developing collaboration in timing, phrasing, sound, blending, and interaction. Tips on how to catch oneself and stabilize, for rhythmically and harmonically supporting accompaniment and soloing, or for designing intros and outros round out the program.
