Bruce Springsteen is already considered one of the great music stars in the early 80s; his latest albums are bestsellers. Therefore, not only the call from fans for new songs is getting louder, but also the pressure from the record company. However, while working on his new album, everything seems to be different for the musician this time: His thoughts keep returning to his past – to his difficult relationship with his father – and Springsteen struggles with his personal demons and depression during the creation of his new songs. As he tries to process his feelings into songs, he increasingly alienates himself from his surroundings, which affects not only his manager Jon Landau but also the budding romance with Faye Romano. While Springsteen's album "Nebraska" did not achieve commercial success at the time of its release, it is now regarded as a celebrated masterpiece.
