Naturgenuss Wanderung
Marktplatz 6, 53545 Linz am Rhein
Hiking and regional delights around Linz on the Rhine
This approximately 12-kilometer hike connects the most beautiful sides of the region around Linz on the Rhine: historic old town alleys, wide views, tranquil stream valleys, scenic heights, and culinary delights.
It begins with the friendly hiking guide Kerstin Stümper at the lively marketplace of Linz's old town. Along the way, she will repeatedly share anecdotes and historical insights, bringing the region around Linz closer to you in many facets. In the midst of the colorful half-timbered houses, the tour begins with the first culinary stop at the Weinbistro Marktwirtschaft – here, at this natural pleasure provider, you have the ideal opportunity to strengthen yourself for the upcoming path. From the marketplace, the route leads past the historic church of St. Martin and then steadily uphill towards Kaiserberg. The local mountain of Linz rewards the ascent with fantastic distant views over the Rhine Valley, the heights of the Eifel, and into the Ahr Valley.
Then it goes down into the idyllic valley of the Alwiesbach. At first, the path follows wide forest roads; later, small trails meander through quiet woodland areas and open meadows.
Over fields and gentle heights, you will finally reach the Linzer Höhe. Here, with the nature enjoyment partner Hof Ronig, the second culinary stop of the tour awaits. Regional farm delicacies and the rural atmosphere make the stop a special experience.
Well-fortified, the path leads down into the valley of the Leubsdorfer Bach. At the exit of the valley, a short ascent begins to the Koppe Cross. From here, a magnificent view of Leubsdorf and the surrounding landscape opens up. Just below the Koppe Cross, the route passes the famous Giant Chair – a popular photo motif along the way before the path ascends to Dattenberg.
In Dattenberg, the next nature enjoyment station awaits: the Dattenberger Brauerei. Here, you can taste regional beer specialties produced according to traditional, historical brewing art.
Just a few minutes away lies the Gertrudenberg of Dattenberg. There, Naturgenuss Winzer Kay Thiel invites you to the next culinary stop. With a view over the vineyard slopes and the Rhine Valley, you can fully enjoy the special atmosphere of the region. Afterwards, the path leads back into the forest. Over a steeper descent, the route again reaches the Alwiesbach and finally back to Linz.
After approximately 12 varied kilometers, your hike ends again at the historic marketplace – of course, not without a final culinary conclusion at the Weinbistro Marktwirtschaft in the old town.
Our tip: Conclude the day with a relaxed dinner at the Marktwirtschaft. In addition to an extensive selection of flammkuchen with up to 20 varieties, regional delicacies and seasonal highlights await you. Here, you will be responsible for your own payment.
