„A Taste of Home“ is the musical journey of an outstanding song duo – personal, colorful, and profoundly human.
On this extraordinary evening of songs, folk music from around the world is heard anew and artfully designed. In ten languages, the British mezzo-soprano with roots in Singapore sings about heritage and memory, longing, love, and everyday life – about what we all call “home,” no matter where we come from. At the center is Berio's legendary cycle “Folk Songs,” specially commissioned for this evening in a new arrangement for voice and piano.
De Fallas spirited “Siete Canciones Populares Espanolas,” a milestone between folk song and art music, will be performed alongside discoveries such as songs inspired by Peruvian folklore by Teodoro Valcárcel, Chinese folk songs from the singer's childhood, and three timeless chansons by Charles Trenet.
