Leonardo da Vinci is considered one of the greatest universal geniuses in history. World-famous for the "Mona Lisa" and "The Last Supper," he simultaneously devoted himself intensively to the exploration, construction, and development of visionary technical ideas. Thousands of preserved manuscript pages with sketches, observations, and technical designs testify to his extraordinary inventive spirit.

The exhibition "Leonardo da Vinci's Machines" at the Mennonite Church City Gallery presents over 40 detailed large-scale models made of wood, reconstructed from Leonardo da Vinci's original drawings. Among other things, cranes, pulleys, measuring instruments, flying devices, and mechanical apparatuses can be seen. Numerous models are functional and invite visitors to not only observe technology but also to try it out for themselves.

The exhibition provides exciting insights into Leonardo's visionary thought world and shows how his sketches were deciphered after centuries of scientific research and transformed into functional models. Visitors will also learn why Leonardo wrote his notes in mirror writing and what extraordinary ideas were well ahead of their time.
