From 30.04.2026 until the 14.06.2026
STADTGALERIE Mennonitenkirche: "Zeitabdrücke"
Schlossstr. 2, 56564 Neuwied
From April 24 to June 14, 2026, the city gallery Mennonitenkirche in Neuwied invites you to an extraordinary solo exhibition by the artist Björn Drenkwitz.
In his works, analog and digital media merge: video, photography, sound, sculpture, graphic art, and performance. Each piece arises from the search for the right medium and opens new perspectives on time, movement, and perception.
Highlights include the Vanitas origami folds, whose structures make transience and beauty visible at the same time. Large-format cyanotypes of dead trees from the series "Past and Future Forest" monumentally unite nature, time, and memory. The AI-generated digital images and video installations create an exciting dialogue between digital aesthetics and analog presence. Through digital photographs of national flowers from long-gone states, actual national flowers of present-day Europe, and digital coat-of-arms collages, the fragility and finitude of state constructs are made evident.
The artist's interdisciplinary approach creates a multifaceted overall experience that fascinatingly connects different media, natural phenomena, historical, and societal references.
Thus, the exhibition invites you to marvel, discover, and immerse yourself. It challenges you to feel the transience, the passage of time, and its effects on artists, participants, and the audience. The team of the city gallery Mennonitenkirche in Neuwied looks forward to your visit to an exhibition where time becomes visible, tangible, and experienceable.
