After World War II, it served as an emergency shelter; at the end of January 1959, the core structure was blown up. In 1997, the association Feste Kaiser Franz e. V. was founded with the aim of preserving the facility. From 2009 to 2011, the throat tower was extensively renovated; here you will find the only preserved fortress oven of the entire fortress Koblenz and Ehrenbreitstein. In 2022, the new Fortress Park Kaiser Franz was opened.
