New trail guardians are to keep an eye on trails, signs, and rest areas in the future. A training session for interested parties will take place on November 7th in Bornich.
If you enjoy hiking, are often outdoors, and want to actively engage in the region, then the role of a trail guardian could be just right for you. New volunteers are being sought for the Loreley Trails to help maintain the quality of the hiking trails in the long term.
The trail guardians take on one or more Loreley Trails and walk them twice a year. During this, they check the condition of the paths, the signage, and the markings. Smaller tasks can be completed directly – for example, renewing or supplementing markings or clearing marking spots.
Trail signs, benches, and resting spots are also checked for their condition as well as possible damage or vandalism. Larger deficiencies are reported by the trail guardians to the responsible authority.

Training in Theory and Practice
To ensure that the new trail guardians are well prepared for their tasks, a training session is offered:
When: Saturday, November 7th, 2026, 10:00 a.m.
Where: Sports and Community Center Bornich
In addition to the theoretical foundation, there is also a practical part in the program. The event lasts about six hours.
We are looking for people who enjoy hiking and nature and want to contribute with their commitment to ensuring that the Loreley Trails remain well marked and maintained in the future.

Interested parties are requested to register in advance at vanessa.westermayer@loreley-touristik.de
