Fürstlicher Schlosspark Sayn
Schlossstraße 100, 56170 Bendorf-Sayn
When Prince Ludwig of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn had the castle Sayn he acquired remodeled in the neo-Gothic style in the middle of the 19th century, a park in the English landscape style was also created on a roughly seven-hectare area in front of the castle. According to a design by the former director of the Botanical Garden in St. Petersburg, Karl-Friedrich Thelemann, it was executed by the garden artist Heinrich Siesmayer and was intended to form a romantic ensemble with the castle and the two-hectare Burgberg. Rare trees, the castle pond with fountain, the lion grotto, a Marian chapel, a cloister with cast-iron stations, as well as the streams of Sayn and Brex characterize the facility. Today, the butterfly garden created by Princess Gabriela in 1987 is the main attraction of the park.
