Since 1999, Urbar has been an independent municipality again. This event was worthy of a new monument for the village, created by local artist Willy Heinzen in the form of a "Freed Pig".
This artwork stands for Urbar's independence for eternity. It makes clear to the viewer that the pig represents Urbar's freedom! The pig is free in nature, and that's what "the sculpture" stands for here! It humorously, yet elegantly and effortlessly, shows as a symbol that "Urbar's struggle for freedom" has succeeded. Urbar's oldest known son is Antonius, the patron saint. He chose nothing but "the pig" as his best friend for protection. Strongly inspired by this idea, Willi Heinzen was engaged. The artist's work is proof—the pig is finally off the ice. Therefore, we want to declare what is connected with the artwork: The piglet stands for "Nählsches Ham". It waves the freedom torch, because—the curly tail, which had withered and been bent for many years, is now proudly raised in a sort of catharsis! A lucky pig is the free pig, as a piggy bank it reminds us to save. It caricatures that it has worked out; we were lucky once again to have "had pig". The "sow" is turned upside down, thus showing the whole world that whatever one wants, one can achieve; the pig also sets a sign for that! The people of Urbar have humor; even that is apparent from the pig. Can you not recognize that little wink in its face? We do not take ourselves so seriously! The pig also stands for tradition, for many efforts - great rewards! In the past, there used to be a pig in every household, often secretly slaughtered overnight, so to speak, "under the table"! However, the pig undoubtedly also represents those great days: Kerb, Carnival, with much fun and excitement, we let the pig out! Therefore, take the pig as it is meant, as a figure that unites us; whoever understands through this symbol feels comfortable here in Urbar!
