Musical diversity, culinary delights – and all of it almost for free: During the Deichstadtfest, Neuwied's Luisenplatz transforms into a colorful festival mile, a popular meeting place for young and old, for the Neuwieder "Schärjer" and their guests from the entire region. The organizers of the first Deichstadtfest were not aware that they were establishing a tradition. In November 1979, they wanted to celebrate the opening of the completely redesigned Luisenplatz in the presence of high-ranking representatives from politics and business – of course with a comprehensive program. The event was so well-received by locals and visitors alike that the desire for a regularly recurring festival quickly emerged. The Deichstadtfest was born – and continues to captivate tens of thousands every year. A major draw is the music. On multiple stages, the organizers present a wide range of genres, a bouquet of varied sounds. Top-class musicians from both home and abroad provide the entertainment. They are active in Neuwied's city center for around 100 hours, radiating party vibes and serving Schlager, pop, and rock. Welcome to the party.
