The choir was created as part of last year's state congress on music education. It brings together teachers from all types of schools in Rhineland-Palatinate who wish to further develop their shared passion for singing at a high level while simultaneously gaining insights for their school practice.

The choir is led by Dr. Markus Detterbeck, who artistically shapes the working phase and supports the development of the ensemble. Participants collaboratively work on the repertoire, reflect on rehearsal methods, and develop ideas that can be directly incorporated into school choirs, music clubs, and lessons. Thus, the State Teachers' Choir combines musical development with practice-oriented training and statewide networking.
The program of the workshop concert reflects the stylistic diversity of choral work. Works from different eras and genres will be performed, ranging from classical choral literature to modern arrangements and popular cross-genre formats. The concert provides insight into a lively rehearsal process where continuous choral work, stylistic diversity, and artistic development come together. The presented works are the result of intensive collaborative work and simultaneously express an open musical process that consciously allows for experimentation, refinement, and further development.

From a future perspective, the choir is part of a larger initiative. Together with the also newly forming State Teachers' Big Band, a joint concert project is planned for autumn at Sayner Hütte, aimed at showcasing the diversity of school ensemble work and the potential and commitment of music teachers in the state.
