“The NEUwieder Wine Time was already a complete success in its premiere year,” reports Jonas Baucke, managing director of the fashion house “SiNN” and board member of the Deichstadtfreunde. Customers who come to the city center nowadays don't just want to do their shopping but seek an experience. Therefore, attractive events like Wine Time also have the potential to attract many people to Neuwied's pedestrian zone. This year, the Deichstadtfreunde – the action forum of Neuwied's downtown retailers and service providers – are once again organizing a voucher campaign as part of Wine Time: Anyone who shops for 30 euros in participating stores in the city center will receive a voucher, with which customers can save one euro per glass at the wine stand. The 30 euros are to be understood as more than just a guideline: “Retailers can freely decide at what purchase value they issue vouchers to their customers,” explains Baucke. For the design of the action area, organizer Johannes Radschinski relies on urban furniture in a pallet style and white umbrellas, which ensure a high quality of stay under the mighty, shade-giving plane trees on Luisenplatz. Chill house music and an open setup in the center of the square create an inviting and summery atmosphere for Wine Time. After the kickoff on August 15 and 16, a different vintner will be present here on each of the following four weekends. On August 22 and 23, the Bückermann winery from Monzernheim in Rheinhessen will serve its diverse wines, and a week later, on August 29 and 30, the award-winning wines of the Württemberg winery Karl Busch can be enjoyed. On the first weekend of September, winemaker Thorsten Krieger from the South Palatinate will offer his quality wines, with the conclusion being made by the Briem winery from Ihringen in Baden on September 12 and 13, which not only has wines but also delicious Flammkuchen on offer. The winemakers will start serving their wines at 2 PM on Fridays, while the fine drops can already be enjoyed from 1 PM on Saturdays.
