The singer and composer Etta Scollo has been one of the defining voices of Sicilian music for decades and is also a sound researcher of European standing. In her work, poetry, vocal art, and a rich spectrum of traditional sounds combine to create a subtle dialogue between the past and the present. Her literature-inspired compositions reflect influences from poets such as Vincenzo Consolo, Salvatore Quasimodo, and Mascha Kaléko – always carried by Scollo's unmistakable, expressive voice and the congenial instrumental accompaniment of her long-term companions, who are stylistically immensely versatile and improvisationally skilled.
