Railway Romanticism

The railway lines on both sides of the Rhine are considered Germany's most beautiful landscape and lead through the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Middle Rhine Valley is not only Germany's romantic figurehead, it has always been one of the most important traffic arteries: by water, by road and by rail. A train journey on the Middle Rhine is one of the most beautiful train experiences in Germany. In addition to the outstanding landscape, one always has the myth of the Rhine before one's eyes.

The historic railways commute comfortably from the Rhine up to the low mountain range Hunsrück, Eifel and Westerwald. The rails run through meadows and forests, past places worth seeing with small train stations. Numerous viaducts make it possible to cross the valleys. The relaxed rides can be wonderfully combined with a stop, a hike or a bike tour for an exciting day trip.
